In Loving Memory of
Julie Doody
Aug 5, 1988 - July 24, 2002

The For Julie Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization committed to raising funds to assist in the battle against leukemia and other blood cancers. We are all volunteers who donate our effort and time in the belief that leukemia and all blood cancers can be eliminated as a major cause of death in children.

This Foundation was established in the memory of Julianne Doody, a 13-year-old girl who died in July of 2002, less than 14 weeks after being diagnosed with acute myelogenous leukemia, a very aggressive form of leukemia.

Our main method of fundraising remains our "Friday for Julie" Walk and Fundraiser held in late July, close to Julie's birthday. This year our 7th Annual Walk/Fundraiser will be held on Friday, July 24, 2009. Click here to register for this year's walk.

We want to thank everyone who joined us for last year's walk. Due to your generosity, we raised over $100,000. In the six years since we held our first walk, we have now raised over $600,000. Please help us as we continue our efforts to eliminate leukemia and other blood cancers as the leading cause of death of children in the United States. If you can not attend our walk, please consider helping us achieve our goal by mailing us a donation to our address below or click here to donate online.

We are a 100% volunteer-based organization, where all funds raised are used to find and provide funding to innovative research projects and, at the same time, provide financial assistance to families burdened with the exorbitant costs of fighting cancer.

We also hold a charity poker tournament during the winter months. This past January, we held our 2nd Annual "All in For Julie" Texas Hold'em Tournament. This has become a welcome and enjoyable break from the doldrums of the winter months.

Each year the For Julie Foundation has awarded at least one $50,000 grant to a research institution and/or hospital. Last year we awarded two $50,000 grant awards. So far this year we have awarded one $25,000 grant to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society specifically for AML Research, $2,500 to the Ronald McDonald House in Oaklawn, and are in the process of determining this year's $50,000 award winner. We have awarded $355,000 in research grants to date. We continue to use the remaining funds to assist needy families and we have helped 56 families to date.
