Friday for Julie Walk
Walk details: The walk is held around the last Friday in July, about the time of Julie's birthday. This year it was held on July 24th. It is held at the Orland Park Civic Center, because it is around the area in which Julie grew up. The 2 schools within blocks of the Civic Center (High Point Elementary and Orland Jr. High) are the 2 main schools that Julie attended.
Each "Friday For Julie" Walk & Fundraiser is started with a balloon launch in memory of Julie. This part of the walk is specifically for Julie and others who have lost their battle with leukemia and other blood cancers. It gives us all a moment to reflect on the horrible effects of this disease and reminds us of what we are doing in memory of Julie to make a difference. The 2-mile walk is to support those still battling these diseases.
After the walk there are raffles, a silent auction, entertainment, and food and drink.
